Something old, something new

And for once nothing (navy) blue! I felt super good in today's me-made outfit:

Such a nice little surprise, while sorting my clothes I stumbled upon this:

It's an eight-gored green poplin skirt made from a 70's pattern that I had forgotten about because it was a bit too big back when I made it and now, ahem^^ it fits -not sure if I should be glad or desperate! I wore it with a simple gathered top made with mystery synthetic fabric, and the pattern is a smaller version of my baby-doll tunic.
Finally I wanted to say that I've been extorted by my mum ONCE AGAIN, after she saw my blue and white R dress she asked for one so I had to make this for her:

Lol I'm such a giving seamstress, I should totally get rewarded with tons of fabric and patterns for my upcoming birthday^^

  2. Yes, I think she should reward you with tons of fabric for your birthday. But wait, that might be dangerous as she'll want even more!!!!
You both look adorable in your pretty, pretty outfits.

  3. Hi, I made that eight gored skirt pattern for my O Level needlework-dating myself with that. It was made in a beautiful, purple, light weight wool. As I spent four hours a week for two years making that skirt and a baby dress I certainly never wore it I was sick of the sight of it! However I did get a grade 1 and it didn't put me off sewing.

    1. Hey, I hope you kept the skirt, you've put so much work in it! Maybe one day you'll want to wear it :)

  4. This made me realize that I need to make clothes that are more wearable... I have a bunch of 50s dresses that are great if I want to do a guest spot on Mad Men, but not if I want to look as easy breezy springy as you. What a great look! Love it. Bravo!

    1. Lol I know that too, I regularly check on my box of full skirted dresses and realise I don't really have an occasion to wear them^^
